After leaving her hometown in India , Ms. Malik earned a an accounting degree in London . It was here that Ms. Malik discovered the passion that would shape her professional career. She started working for an international women's apparel manufacturer. Ms. Malik played a vital role in helping the company's growth and expansion to the US . At the age of 21, she opened up the company's first U.S. office. During this process, she discovered her creative nature and her talent for merchandising. The idea of combining her accounting / business skills and artistic flare directed her long term career path.
Ms. Malik further expanded her experience working for numerous apparel companies in the US in various categories varying from “budget” to “better” merchandise, like California Ivy, Sweet Talk. Building on these experiences, Ms. Malik finally decided to open her own apparel showroom – Neetu Malik, Inc. – in the California Mart. In the past nine years, the company has consistently grown in a highly competitive industry. For the last 5 years the company's net revenue have increased 15 percent yearly along with a 10 percent growth in the account base.
